The 2020 show, which preceded the pandemic stateside, had 2 million viewers. The 2022 SAG Awards drew 1.8 million total viewers across TNT and TBS, doubling last year’s Covid-impacted tally. (The SAG Awards aired live on the Turner cable channels one day ahead of migrating to Max.) This coming Sunday, the 75th annual British Academy Film Awards will stream on BritBox for the first time in North America and South Africa. Tonight, the 57th ACM Awards will live-stream globally in all but two territories, India and Singapore last week, the 28th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards began streaming on HBO Max. The ACMs are not the only canary in the coal mine of awards shows leaving linear television.
